The Director of Finance is a dynamic individual with a proven track record of success to manage, direct and steward the finances of Youth Opportunities Unlimited (YOU). Responsibilities include complex data analysis, budget forecasting, overseeing accounts and budgets, relationship management and making strategic financial decisions that will promote the long-term financial health of the organization. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in the not-for-profit sector with strong financial vision and insight to match. Responsibilities Direct and monitor all financial activity of the organization Manage company cash flow Outline and implement company-wide budget plans Prepare company financial statements monthly and annually, as needed Provide monthly reporting to the finance committee, funders and project donors Oversee all accounting work and set up internal and external audits to ensure accuracy of information. Ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principals (GAAP) and the organizations financial policies and procedures. Use data analysis to strategically forecast financial trends Work with and advise the senior management team on solid financial decision making to ensure financial viability Establish internal work processes for financial department (including accounting and billing) and monitor their progress Maintain and manage funding provider(s) relationships Provide strategic financial planning advice/ information to senior management and the board of directors to support long-term viability Analyze and interpret financial data and present the information in frequent reports and presentations to board of directors and executive director Stay abreast of current market trends and patterns and act accordingly Assess company spending and work to reduce costs Manage finance department, training any new employees as necessary Have a clear understanding of and adhere to current laws and regulations Requirements and Qualifications Minimum of bachelor’s degree in business management, finance, accounting, or related field Master’s degree and/or CPA preferred 5+ years experience in a senior finance position Values aligned with the organization Experience in the not-for-profit sector with a strong financial vision and insight to match Possess strong leadership skills and business acumen that can inspire staff Excellent communication skills, both orally and written; skilled in the art of negotiation Extremely knowledgeable in financial forecasting, accounting principles, and financial data analysis Adept at prioritizing tasks in a complex, dynamic environment with multiple competing issues.
